Industry staff are still loyal

Catering equipment sector staff are a loyal lot, according to the results of Catering Insight’s 2017 Job Satisfaction Survey, which will probably not come as any surprise to the industry.

Nearly 100 dealer and supplier staff responded to this year’s anonymous questionaire. However, it seems change may be in the air, as the amount of workers who have been in the same job for more than 10 years is on the wane compared to last year’s salary survey results. Then the total was 35.92%, while this year we recorded 27.66%.

A further 24.47% have maintained their employment for between 5 and 10 years, compared to last year’s 22.33%.

A significant proportion of the longest serving executives were MDs (62% of CEO respondents), likely because they founded the businesses or at least had a hand in the organisation from its inception.

Sales executives’ results were much more mixed, with the largest proportion of their results being a third employed between 5 and 10 years.

14.89% of overall respondents recorded their job duration as between 3 and 5 years, with a further 20.21% answering between 1 and 5 years. 12.77% of staff have been at their organisations for less than a year.
