Following on from its attendance at the Great Hospitality Show, commercial kitchen design software specialist Specifi turned its attention to North America with the launch of a range of products at the NAFEM exhibition in Florida this month.
Stuart Campbell, vice president of sales for the UK, Europe and Asia detailed: “We were delighted by the response from both manufacturers and the wider industry alike to the Specifi system in the USA.
“With over 700 businesses expressing an interest over the 3 days of the show, we are confident that our unique world system and additional programmes offer effective solutions to doing business in today’s global market. Irrespective of where you are in the world today, our industry is truly a 24/7 operation. With so many manufacturers, designers and specifiers operating globally, the potential of projects being managed on different continents is a growing reality.
“One of the major topics discussed repeatedly was the ever increasing desire of manufacturers to grow market share, whenever and wherever possible. In order to achieve this they recognise that the key to their potential success is the availability of accurate information, an ability to work globally and in the required language.”
He concluded: “Business Information Modelling (BIM) and the growing requirement to be able to work with this process at the highest level was also a hot topic. I believe I have a good understanding of BIM and its use in the UK, but until the NAFEM show I was of the opinion that it was used rarely in North America. This couldn’t be further from the truth and knowledge acquired at the exhibition, on top of my recent involvement in a project in Abu Dhabi, told me pretty much all I needed to know about the future of BIM as a global process. It is here to stay, it will continue to develop globally and businesses need to engage to bring potential rewards.”
