Around 140 distributors, consultants and other senior UK catering equipment industry figures assembled yesterday to help Falcon Foodservice Equipment celebrate its 200th anniversary.
Held onboard Bateaux London’s Glass Room boat, guests were treated to a five course dining experience while sailing up and down the Thames and viewing the sights of the capital.
Throughout the afternoon, representatives from the Stirling-based cooking equipment manufacturer detailed the significance of the company’s major milestone.
MD Peter McAllister was first presented with one of the original ‘Falcon ladies’ calendars by HCE Foodservice Equipment project sales manager, Mike Bridger.
He then went on to thank industry friends and colleagues for attending, and paid special tribute to retired Falcon stalwarts, Colin Nevitt, Neil Roseweir and William Scott.
McAllister commented: “At Falcon we are privileged that we have a legacy that has been handed down by the people who went before us and we will do our very best to uphold the values and traditions that Falcon stands for – quality, value and reliability – whilst ensuring we continue to innovate and adapt to the ever changes needs of the market.
“While we are here today to celebrate our 200th anniversary, our history doesn’t define us. I have a fantastic team at Falcon and rest assured that we are investing heavily in new product development.
“We have recently released our new HD Dominator and our new safety fryer. We have a new induction range launching in January, closely followed by a dominator flexi pan. We have a number of other new and innovative products in development that you will see very soon. As well as new products we are also investing heavily in our business systems and processes.”
He was followed by Tim Smith, CEO of Falcon’s parent company, AFE Group, who reviewed the history of the Scottish manufacturer, from its origins as the Falkirk Iron Company in 1819, through to today where its products are seen in every corner of the catering industry – even underwater in submarines.
Smith detailed: “Today Falcon is part of the Ali Group and we employ 200 colleagues at Stirling. I am delighted to say that between them there is nearly 3,000 years of knowledge, experience and loyal service to carry on the Falcon traditions.”
Finally, Julian Shine, MD of distributor Shine Catering Systems, responded on behalf of the guests, saying: “Falcon has provided legendary hospitality over the years, but behind that has always been a great product and service.”
The event concluded with an after-party at the All Bar One near Embankment in central London.
