IN PICS: ENSE goes on tour to present latest awards

Members of ENSE UK’s team have toured the country to hand out the buying consortium’s distributor and supplier awards for the 2019 financial year.

The accolades are usually presented at the group’s spring conference, but as all events were cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis, ENSE created the workaround to hand over the trophies. The five distributor awards were all sponsored by Rational.

As voted for by the buying group’s suppliers, Distributor of the Year was Tailor Made Catering Equipment Services. The Bristol-based dealer’s team of Jim and Anne Stevens, along with James Austin, grew their trade with the buying group by 12% in 2019, supporting over half the suppliers, pushing 65% of the company’s turnover through them.

Another supplier-voted accolade was the Director’s Award, which went to sister companies Archer Catering Systems and Contiquip. Nick and Greg Archer have run these side by side companies for several years and were one of the original members in ENSE.  2019 marked the first time they triumphed in the Director’s Award category, which recognises the small and medium sized Distributor of the Year. They combined to grow their businesses by 38% in 2019.

However, the Highest Growth Distributor for the second consecutive year was Restaurant Design Associates. It grew by 88% in 2019 on top of its growth of 173% in 2018.

For 2019, Western Blueprint was awarded as the Distributor Newcomer of the Year, as it reportedly had ‘outstanding’ turnover in the group, and supported over 20 suppliers in its first full year.

The Training Champion award is earned by the distributor that supports ENSE training by sending the most people. Training happens at dedicated product training events, trade shows and online. With a small staff, Fulcrum still managed to send 20 delegates over the course of 2019 to ENSE training events.

On the supplier front, Bridge Air Control Systems won the Highest Growth Supplier award for the second time. In 2019 Bridge Air Control had a growth of 124% over its performance from the previous year.

The Supplier Newcomer of the Year was True Refrigeration, after having joined ENSE in March 2019 and quickly growing its business within the group of distributors. By the time that year came to a close, True had done business with 26 dealer members.

For the second consecutive year, the distributors voted Maidaid Halcyon as the Heavy Equipment Supplier of the Year. Maidaid grew its business by 20% and sold to over 84% of the distributors.

The Supplier of the Year for Light Equipment was Neville UK. In its first full calendar year within the consortium, Neville’s grew its business by 48% compared to its 2018 performance. The distributors recognised the efforts and support that Neville’s gave them and accordingly voted them as the winner.

In the Supplier of the Year – Associated Products & Services category, First Choice Group claimed this distributor-voted victory for the second straight year. First Choice sold to 93% of the members and grew its business by 15%.

Also chosen by ENSE distributors, the victor in the Supplier of the Year – Sales & Service Support award was Rational. The buying group’s dealers paid tribute to the after-sales service that Rational provides.
