Robert Wager is looking forward to getting down to the job of driving relationships with Maidaid’s dealers after being named as the manufacturer’s new sales director.

Wager, who most recently served as Maidaid’s general sales manager, takes over the post from Julian Lambert, who recently retired from the business.

He said he was confident of building on the work that his predecessor carried out.

“Having worked with Julian for the past three years, I know he’s a very hard act to follow, but it has also given me such an advantage going forward, knowing we share the same goals and objectives for the continuing success of the company. I am very much looking forward to taking on this exciting challenge.”

The internal promotion has received the thumbs up from Lambert, who said it was great to know that his role is being taken over by a colleague.

“I truly can’t think of anyone better to do it. I have total confidence that Rob can continue to build on the successful growth that Maidaid has enjoyed over recent years,” he said.

Wager joined the company in April 2016 as national account manager, quickly rising to become general sales manager. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the catering industry, having previously worked for Hobart, Meiko and Dawson Food Service Equipment.

Chris Myhill, operations director at Maidaid, said: “We are delighted to have been able to fill this post by promoting from within the company. The company has the double asset of someone who is already familiar with our staff and customers and who brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the post.”
