The UK’s largest provider of retirement housing and care homes is to shell out almost £2m on new catering equipment.

Anchor Trust has issued a contract notice for the supply of light and heavy catering equipment, such as cutlery, crockery and refrigeration, as well as what it calls “general commercial kitchen equipment”.

The group employs 10,000 staff who provide support for almost 40,000 older people each week. Anchor operates from more than 1,000 sites and works with local authorities and primary care trusts.

Anchor said the estimated value of the deal was £1.925m excluding VAT, and would be delivered over a five-year period starting from the award of the contract.

Suppliers have until September 21st to submit their tenders or requests to participate. Anchor said it intends to use an eTendering system to facilitate the procurement exercise.
