The field of coffee machine technology is fast moving, so Catering Insight asked several manufacturers and suppliers what trends are currently sweeping the market.

According to WMF MD, Marcus Gansloser: “At present we are finding more and more customers are wanting bean to cup machines that are able to be linked into cashless payment systems as well as telemetry.

“Telemetry is a way of looking into the software of the machine from a laptop or phone to be able to check cup counts, cleaning regimes as well as service maintenance schedules and error messages.

“WMF can provide these options as well as some apps especially for the office market so as to be able to customise drink selection prior to the machine preparing it.”

Elsewhere, Peter Atmore, head of sales and marketing at Birmingham-based Fracino, feels: “An expectation of ‘ease of use’ and low maintenance requirements, speed of service and reliability are all drivers to develop technology that manages these expectations within the physical operational processes of the traditional equipment.

“Technologies that maximise efficiency and productivity are increasingly integrated into our equipment.
