European foodservice industry trade show Hostelco has been postponed from 2021 to 2022 due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The hotel and restaurant event will now be held at Fira Barcelona on 4-7 April 2022 rather than 17-20 May 2021.
Organised by Alimentaria Exhibitions, the show’s postponement means it will be back on a biennial schedule after it was originally slated to take place in April 2020. The latest change of dates comes after consultation and dialogue with the sector’s associative and institutional network, with a proposal adapted to current circumstances, both conceptually and in terms of exhibition space.
MD of Alimentaria Exhibitions, J. Antonio Valls, said: “We want to commit to Hostelco in 2022 with a size and participation that will once again boost international business and maintain the quality and value proposition of previous editions, which have made it a global benchmark for the industry.”
Hostelco and sister gastronomy event Alimentaria constitute one of the main platforms of international reference for the food and drinks industry, foodservice, hospitality equipment and its value chain. At its last edition in 2018, this event brought together 4,500 companies and 150,000 professional visitors, 25% of whom were from outside Spain.
In the meantime, Gastronomic Forum Barcelona and Alimentaria FoodTech, the trade show on food processing and preservation, are welcoming Hostelco and Alimentaria exhibitors to the next edition on 18-20 October at the same Fira Barcelona venue. It is adapting its format so that in addition to the usual small producers from the primary sector and food artisans, it will be able to bring together a larger representation of companies from the foodservice, equipment, services and distribution sectors.
