Popular biennial hospitality exhibition HOST returns this week, with hundreds of UK catering professionals set to make the journey to Milan over the next few days.
More than 125,000 catering professionals are expected through the doors of the Fiera Milano during the course of the five-day show, with in excess of 30,000 people travelling from overseas.
Organisers of the Milan-based event say that more than 1,600 exhibitors from 50 countries are booked into the event, which officially kicks off tomorrow.
The list of exhibitors includes 250 companies that will be present at HOST for the first time. The number is an improvement on last time around when Host had 191 exhibitors showing their products for the first time.
Approximately 40% of this year’s exhibitors are companies from outside of Italy, which the organisers insist strengthens its reputation as an international show.
One company set to have a huge presence at HOST is Ali Group. This year’s event is particularly significant for the Italy-based catering equipment behemoth as it is celebrating its 50th birthday.
Michele Perini, president of Fiera Milano, says that in order to take advantage of “supply chain proximities”, the lay-out of the show has been organised into 12 pavilions.
These will then be broken down into three macro-areas: foodservice equipment; bar and coffee machines; and furniture and tableware. “Host 2013’s capacity to innovate across the board is expressed in particular through its attentive approach to new formats,” he said.
