A highly international visitor base came to Host Milan this year, according to the event’s reporting.
The 41st edition of the trade show was held at the Fieramilano on 18-22 October and welcomed over 200,000 attendees, 8% more than the previous record total in 2017.
Four visitors out of 10 came from outside Italy, from no fewer than 171 countries. As well as Europe, with many visitors from Spain, Germany, France, the UK and Switzerland, there were also large delegations from the USA, China, the Middle East and the Far East. The furthest any one country had to travel to get to Milan was from the Fiji Islands.
Waiting for the professional attendees were 2,249 exhibitors (up 3.8% on 2017), 1,360 of them being Italian and 889 came from 55 other countries. They comprised of both the big players and small-scale innovative concerns and start-ups.
The cosmopolitan atmosphere saw a substantial growth in the meetings that took place with operators and hosted buyers, who came to Milan thanks to collaboration with ITA-ICE from all over the world, but most notably from the USA and Canada, Russia and the United Arab Emirates. Host reported a high level of satisfaction with the proposals that resulted from these encounters.
Host 2019 was also a good opportunity to exchange know-how and experiences, thanks to a calendar of initiatives that has never been fuller: over 800 events in all sectors, from coffee and pastries to bread baking and catering.
Another key factor was the partnerships with sector associations. These involved professionals, consultants and experts from all over the world who tackled topical issues like sustainability and 4.0 technology, artificial intelligence and the internet of things.
