A new manufacturing plant opened by Hoshizaki in India will be used to support refrigeration demand in markets such as Europe, the company has said.
The site in Gujarat, which started production before Christmas, is the fourth in India that is operated by Hoshizaki group company Western Refrigeration Private Limited.
With the construction of new plant, Western’s production capacity has increased by about 15% for deep freezers and 30% for commercial refrigerators.
Crucially, the firm said that it will allow it to meet growing demand not only in India, but also in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Hoshizaki said it chose the location because of its thriving manufacturing industry, stable electricity supply and good access to ports, making it advantageous in terms of logistics.
It is also just a few miles northeast of its existing Sanjan plant, which will drive efficiencies in terms of shared management, labour, components and warehouse resource.
Further automation has been built into the production lines to improve productivity and reduce the burden on workers, while solar panels are set to be installed on the roof to enhance energy efficiency and cut CO2 emissions.
