The Kitchen & Equipment Awards has signed up a second sponsor in the form of Hoshizaki.

After the refrigerator manufacturer has supported the Catering Insight Awards since 2017, it has now transferred its backing to the online Kitchen & Equipment Awards, a joint initiative between Catering Insight and sister publication Foodservice Equipment Journal for this year only.

The ceremony will be premiered on both titles’ YouTube channels during the week beginning 30 November. Hoshizaki will be supporting the distributor Digital Initiative of the Year category, particularly important this year when so many operations have gone remote.

The accolade honours a distributor, either traditional or online, who has really embraced the digital medium – whether it is for sales, service, technology, showcasing their capabilities or an innovative social media campaign.

Simon Frost, director UK and Ireland at Hoshizaki UK said: “For the past 4 years, Hoshizaki has been the proud sponsor of Catering Insight’s Digital Initiative of the Year award, and this year is no different. In fact, arguably this category is more poignant than ever given that dealers have had to pull out all the stops with new, digital approaches in order to adapt to the new normal and pandemic-proof their business.”

On the event itself, he commented: “We are delighted that Catering Insight are going ahead with their planned awards ceremony under a new digital format. We look forward to virtually joining all shortlisted dealers, operators, panellists and fellow sponsors to celebrate the tremendous achievements of this year’s winners.

“There’s no question that 2020 has been a challenging year for the hospitality industry, particularly catering equipment manufacturers and dealers that may have faced a down-turn in equipment sales as a result of government-enforced periods of lockdown and closures of hospitality venues. Those that have persevered, survived, and even thrived through tough times should now be recognised for their hard-work, and the Kitchen & Equipment Awards provides a perfect format to do exactly that.”

Nominations are already flooding in, so to ensure that your chosen company is in the running for recognition, you can nominate using the simple online form below. All nominators will remain anonymous, self-nominations are welcome, and the deadline for submission is end of play on Friday 9 October.
