Hopkins trots out horse box kitchen conversion

Catering equipment distributor Hopkins has capitalised on the latest outdoor catering trend by turning horse trailers into commercial kitchen spaces.

The re-commissioned catering units are designed to offer cost-effective and easily transported solution for cooking any type of street food including pizza, burgers, jacket potatoes, burritos and many other foods.

The horse boxes also allow for extra height, compared to a catering van, and can easily be hooked up to existing vehicles.

While Hopkins is offering a horse box re-spray, basic electrical works, stainless steel cladding, sinks and worktops inside the horse box, serving hatch installation, display or storage fridges, storage freezers and internal lighting, clients have the option to add on extras.

This can include branding, canopy for gas equipment and cooking equipment.

Pizza oven manufacturer Delivita hired Hopkins to convert its trailer in time for festivals and to display at shows as a working demonstration of its pizza ovens.

Co-owner Joe Formisano commented: “Hopkins has done an amazing job, the detail of the horse box is amazing, they are very helpful and patient, as we kept returning back to develop new additions within. When presenting them with a problem, they always manage to come up with a solution. The horse box has allowed us to produce 100 pizzas an hour; it has helped us launch the brand and our dough.”
