Hobart sales director, Steve Martin, is to leave the company after 33 years following structural changes within its Cooking Solutions division.
Martin’s most recent role has focused on the UK launch and development of the Wolf range, but Hobart believes the brand has now reached the stage where it can be handed over to the company’s regional sales teams.
As part of the new structure, it has decided that distribution of the Wolf range of cooking equipment will become the responsibility of each regional sales team.
In the light of the revised strategy, Martin has opted to step down and retire from the company at the end of September.
He will gradually phase out his role and spend his final three months liaising with and handing over responsibility to regional sales managers.
Simon Merrick, who took over as the boss of Hobart Cooking Solutions UK at the start of this year, said: “I would like to thank Steve for his immense contribution to the success of Hobart over more than three decades – for his commitment, dedication and energy.”
Martin began his career with Hobart as a sales executive in 1981, was promoted to field sales manager in 1987 and became a regional manager for East Anglia two years later.
He was appointed national sales manager in 1990 and sales director for Hobart UK in 2000.
Following the segmentation of the business in 2011, he became sales director for Hobart Cooking Solutions where he played a key role in setting up the division’s sales team.
Merrick added: “Everybody at Hobart wishes Steve well for his retirement. Hobart Cooking Solutions will continue to develop the Wolf brand in this exciting new era.”
Martin is the second senior name to depart Hobart Cooking Solutions in the space of 12 months. At the end of last year, managing director Ian Garner retired after more than 40 years at the company.
