Hobart Independent reflects on progress

Hobart claims the decision to launch a dealer-only warewashing brand has been firmly vindicated by a decade of growth for the business.

This month marks the 10th anniversary of Hobart Independent, which is the dealer-aspect of Hobart’s warewashing activities.

Its German-made Bar Aid and Ecomax ranges are manufactured exclusively for sales through the channel.

Stuart Bester, business manager at Hobart Independent, says the unit has grown more than 25% year-on-year since its inception in April 2003.

“To post this kind of return is dedication to our close relationships with dealers, our quality offering and value-driven ethos,” he stated.

Bester said that last year Hobart Independent attracted more than 60 new accounts to its dealer network and now works with more than 200 dealers.

Hobart director, David Riley, who established Hobart Independent, claims the “majority” of new accounts it has gained have made the switch to its equipment from competitive brands.

“From the outset we created Hobart Independent to offer the best quality equipment through the dealer channel at a price to suit and have never swayed from that notion,” he said. “It is tremendously heartening, therefore, to reach such a landmark anniversary and grow the business without losing our core ethos.”
