HK Projects has chosen First Choice Environmental Solutions’ Enviropure system for Cats College Cambridge’s food waste elimination solution at its new catering facilities.
This kitchen is the first in the UK to feature the Enviropure system, and it will have to cater for over 400 students from up to 50 different nationalities, around the clock.
Jason Fish of HK Projects explained the company’s thinking behind the decision to specify the brand: “We are not frightened by, nor have ever been afraid to look to new technology and innovation to solve our client’s operational problems. Pushing boundaries and seeking out innovative solutions is in our DNA; we enjoy being first.
“We did our homework, understood Enviropure’s unique capabilities and saw the brand as a potential solution very quickly.”
Cats College’s head chef, Ian Maclaren added: “Sustainability and environmental responsibility have been part of our thinking and operations for some time and the design of our catering facilities are testimony to this.
“The Enviropure system that handles all our food waste including bone and fibrous food-stuffs has become an integral and valuable part of our green credentials drive. We saw it as the perfect replacement to a strategy that sadly, but inevitably resulted in food waste going to landfill and causing drainage problems.
“We are delighted with the improvements and simplicity the system has brought to our food waste handling operations. This innovative recommendation from our supply partner HK has been totally vindicated.”
First Choice Environmental Solutions’ Martin Allen commented: “To say we are delighted is an understatement; our work with our supply partner HK Projects has resulted in a very happy facility.
“Cats personnel now see the Enviropure system as the backbone of their food waste operation and we hope this will be the case for many years to come. We also hope that catering facility specifiers, designers and equipment suppliers will see us as the total on-site solution to many more projects in education and other large food delivery markets and locations.”
