Newcastle-based distributor Heaton Catering Equipment has completed a large scale project to outfit the iconic Spanish City building in Whitley Bay.
Working in conjunction with North Tyneside council and the operator, Kymel, the site includes a seafood fine dining restaurant (1910), a champagne and oyster bar; a traditional tearoom (Valerie’s); ice cream and waffle house and a fish and chip restaurant (Trenchers).
Heaton supplied a wide range of equipment from manufacturers including; Churchill, Steelite, Utopia, Nevilles, ARC, Villeroy & Boch, Tablecraft, Grant, Robot Coupe, Foster, Lincat and Parry.
The restoration project was completed almost 18 years after the venue’s final closure, with historical features brought back to their former glory and the introduction of new leisure facilities.
Nearly 16,000 people took the chance to look around the redeveloped Grade II-listed building on the opening weekend.
