Halton expands global factory footprint

Halton Group, the manufacturer of indoor climate and environmental products, including commercial kitchen ventilation equipment, has opened a new factory in Malaysia.

The facility spans 5,000 square metres and will employ 100 people.

The Asian expansion is led from Malaysia, where Halton established its first Asian office and manufacturing facility in 1996. It said that Asia has a “central role” to play in its strategy as it is targeting fast growth in the emerging markets.

Due to the growth of its business in the region, the company has moved production to larger premises in Malaysia. Halton said the new facility would allow it to increase capacity and provide greater support to customers. The premises also houses an R&D centre that was opened earlier this year.

“Expanding into new markets allows Halton to be close to its customers, and always provides new opportunities,” said Olli Sipila, director of Halton Group Asia. “We foresee Asia to be a growth market for decades to come.”

Halton currently has locations in eight countries in Asia and Pacific, including manufacturing facilities in Malaysia and China.

It also has licence manufacturing in Australia and New Zealand, and earlier this year it opened sales offices in the Philippines and Indonesia.
