Hallde cuts through with slicer and dicer advice

Swedish food preparation equipment manufacturer Hallde is no stranger to the cutting edge of the industry, having nearly 100 years of experience.

The brand is supplied to the UK through Metcalfe Catering Equipment, and MD Neil Richards emphasised: “Whether it’s slicing, dicing, peeling, grating, chipping, blending, juicing, or mixing, one call to Metcalfe will give the dealer access to nearly a century’s worth of expertise.

Hallde’s latest launches are the RG-250 diwash and the CC-34 combi cutter.

All RG-250 diwash parts have a patented coating which renders them very smooth and easy to clean. The machine is designed with even surfaces, rounded edges and without recesses, thus preventing food residues from accumulating. All removable parts of RG-250 diwash are dishwasher safe and are made from food-hygiene certified materials – it is this first machine of its type to offer this.

The unit can cut food, both hard and soft, in more than 50 different ways – including slicing, dicing, grating, shredding, and julienning. Richards underlined: “It may be compact, but it can handle 10kg of produce a minute via its tilted 4litre feed cylinder, which makes it easy for the operator to add any products that require processing, hard or soft. The built-in feeder tube aids the preparation of oblong-shaped produce such as cucumbers.”

The CC-34 is both a vegetable preparation machine and vertical cutter in one. It is small and compact and designed to be easy to put away and take out when needed. The Hallde CC-34 slices, dices, shreds, grates, cuts julienne and waffles vegetables, fruit, dry bread, cheese, nuts, and mushrooms. It can also be used for blending, as well as mixing sauces, soups, and dressings.

If a dealer’s customer base is very broad then it is likely that the needs of those customers is going to be equally broad, it therefore stands to reason that the dealer should have access to as wide a range as possible in order to ensure that they are able to offer the right piece of equipment for the job.”

Analysing the market, Richards concluded: “Pre-Covid the food prep market was seeing a surge in demand for traditional machines such as veg prep machines, slicers, peelers, and mixers thanks to the current trend for cooking using fresh ingredients and the massive surge in vegan and vegetarian cuisine. With kitchens returning to the basics of preparing fresh food on site it stands to reason that many operators need to invest in new food prep equipment.”
