Gratte Brothers Catering Equipment has completed its largest single catering facilities project undertaken to date.
The 18-month effort began when the distributor was appointed to develop the original design brief and install catering facilities in a new build London headquarters for a multinational investment bank in Canary Wharf.
As base build works were still in progress, deliveries had to be completed outside working hours.
The installation spanned four floors with a bulk storage area and four coldrooms in the basement; a Traders’ Deli bar on Level 2; the main staff restaurant with coffee bar, deli bar, and main wash up facility on Level 4; a Bistro kitchen; and restaurant with à la carte dining serving mainly clients and meeting rooms on Level 5.
Unusual additional requirements included the installation of a passenger lift between two levels, delivery and installation of an imported pizza oven weighing 1.5 tonnes which required specialist lifting gear, and spray painting on extract canopies.
The mammoth project required a high level of co-ordination of activities and teamwork between Gratte Brothers’ team, the main contractor – Canary Wharf Contractors, and all other project participants.
These new facilities are now said offer a wide range of dining options suited to the high specification demanded by the client.
