Genfrost buys factory from liquidated manufacturer

The joint venture of commercial refrigeration suppliers Genfrost and ES System K UK has recently purchased assets from manufacturer SPG Limited, which is in administration.

SPG manufactured a variety of retail refrigeration cabinets for the likes of Tesco, Marks & Spencer and Morrison’s.

The deal means that Genfrost has acquired state of the art CO2 test laboratories in Saint Neots, Cambridgeshire, as well as foaming plants and presses and other vital manufacturing equipment.

“We have taken this bold step because of the sharp rise in demand we have seen over the last 12 months. This will mean we can be more flexible for customer demands with quicker turnarounds,” said Genfrost’s director, Lewis Bourne. “We are also the legal owners of the intellectual property of SPG Limited.”

He added: “This move will allow us to be at the forefront of technology allowing us to carry out in-house testing and expand our research and development department. We will also be able to produce any of the old cabinets that SPG produced.

“This joint venture will form a new UK manufacturing plant for ES System K UK. We will be looking for new engineers and machine operators to join our team.”
