Administrators from The P&A Partnership have taken over at Gateshead catering equipment repair outfit Service 2000.
An official notice of their appointment was published on Friday, but they are understood to have been brought in the week before.
The case is being handled by joint administrators Christopher White and Gareth Rusling of the company’s Sheffield office.
Service 2000 was incorporated in 1996 and originally focused on providing refrigeration and catering maintenance to customers in the North East of England.
It quickly built up a customer base that included hotels, football stadiums and hospitals, leading it to expand on a national scale.
On its website, Service 2000 describes itself as an authorised service partner of Rational, as well as a service agent for MKN, Garland, Lincat, Blodgett, Convotherm, Gram and Foster.
Today, Service 2000’s main phone line was answered by a representative from a company called Core Catering Maintenance. He said the company had taken over the handling of certain Service 2000 customers.
The administration comes just a year after Service 2000 said it was “looking to grow again” by hiring commercial catering engineers nationwide.
Elsewhere, another company from the industry to find itself in financial difficulty just recently has been Essential Supplies from Leicester.
The business, which is involved in the hire and sale of catering equipment, is currently in the hands of liquidators FRP Advisory. Their appointment was confirmed last week.
