GastroNorth has recently completed the supply and installation of the all catering areas at the new city of Glasgow College.
The project was part of a multi-phase development over 2 years which will see the project value rise from £300,000 to £3.5m, making the project the largest the company has completed in its history.
Phase one of the development was the new Riverside Campus kitchen which consisted of two separate catering facilities spread across two floors that includes front of house servery counters, grab and go coffee bars, kitchens and preparation zones.
As part of the development GastroNorth teamed up with a number of manufacturers including Falcon, Rational, CED, Foster and Corsair to deliver Glasgow College a state of the art, next generation facility.
Director Tim Whitfield said: “The project went really smoothly, deliveries were on time, the installations were textbook, and the management of subcontractors was very efficient. The main concerns we had were the strict timescales and handover dates that the team had to abide by, with no room for manoeuvre. It was a pleasure to partner Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd and we are relishing the challenge of delivering the further projects in the future together.”
The overall building and project value was in excess of £228m and the facilities consist of 28 training kitchens, four bakeries, a butchers, working public restaurant, a fully functioning bar and eight retail spaces consisting of cafés, coffee shops and grab and go counters.
These modern premises are designed to cement the College’s reputation as one of the largest and most advanced providers of training for the food and hospitality sector in the UK.
Whitfield added: “We are delighted to be involved in such a high-profile project, which encompassed custom-designed, high quality training kitchens and modern foodservice facilities.”
