Fuel duty freeze welcomed by catering equipment firms

A freeze on fuel duty will come as a relief to catering equipment firms with large vehicle fleets.

Catering equipment firms with large vehicles fleets or engineers on the road breathed a sigh of relief yesterday as Chancellor George Osborne froze fuel duty.

With the basic price of fuel sitting at an historic low, some commentators predicted that raising tax on petrol and diesel might have been a painless decision for it to take.

But with the duty left unchanged for a sixth successive year, catering equipment firms aren’t facing the prospect of a sudden hike in operating costs, at least for the foreseeable future.
