Freelance commercial kitchen designer Michael Faparusi has tragically passed away after a short battle with lung cancer.
Michael died at just 44 years old, leaving behind a 10-year-old daughter.
He established his own company, MOF-Designs, last year, after stints at Nelson, Salix and Chiller Box over the past 7 years.
Michael had developed his skills in project management, commercial kitchen design and installation, estimating, building design and consultancy after being part of the first cohort in the Kitchen, Equipment Design and Production Techniques CPD course organised by CEDA, CESA (now FEA) and the FCSI in 2014.
Born in 1975 in Nigeria, Michael moved to the UK with his family when he was 8 years old. A big Tottenham Hotspur fan, he also played basketball for the Borough of Islington growing up, whilst passionately supporting the ‘Chicago Bulls’ basketball team.
He is described as “one of the hardest workers in the industry”, “a true gent” and as being sadly missed as a colleague and friend.
Really sad to read this news – had dealings with Michael over several years and was always good to chat things over with him – really lovely guy and a loss to the wider industry.
So sad to hear of his passing
Michael was a hard-working project manager who really cared about his clients a larger than life character and a great gentleman
He will be sadly missed
commiserations to his daughter and family
So sorry and shocked to read this. I worked with Michael on several projects and he was always a pleasure to deal with. He loved his training and doted on his daughter and I’m sure he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. Taken far too soon.
