John Duggleby, former general manager at Ebor Catering Supplies, has launched York branch of a domestic oven valeting franchise.
Duggleby only began his previous role in December 2019 after York-based distributor, Fishers Catering Supplies, was acquired by Selby-headquartered The Upton Group. Fishers was then rebranded as Ebor, with founders, Graham and Jane Fisher, exiting the business. Duggleby had previously been a director of Fishers since 2011.
However, local news outlet The Northern Echo has reported that Duggleby was made redundant over the summer.
His new venture is Ovenu York, part of a professional domestic oven cleaning service specialist network.
He told The Northern Echo: “I’ve already built up a healthy order book for the first few weeks, which is keeping me really busy. It’s certainly proving a baptism of fire, but I’ve been encouraged by the number of enquiries I’ve received so far.
“I lost my previous job following the spring lockdown, so the timing is perhaps not the best, but I want to assure people I’m open for business and have a range of Covid-safe policies in place to keep both myself and my clients safe.”
The publication also quotes Rik Hellewell, MD of Ovenu, as saying: “John has a proven track record in running successful businesses and while these remain challenging times, I’m confident that he has the skills and ability to succeed.”
