Former apprentices reunite for spare parts push

Two industry professionals who served their apprenticeships together 17 years ago have joined forces again in the name of catering spares.

Neil Donohue and Nick Hughes both joined Stott Benham in Oldham as apprentices in 1991, but their careers took different paths when they moved onto new pastures five years later.

However, Donohue, who spent 17 years at CDS-Wilman, recently joined Euro Catering Parts, which is headed by Hughes, as commercial manager.

Donohue’s time at CDS-Wilman saw him carry out numerous purchasing, IT and sales roles and help the company grow its turnover to more than £25m.

He hopes his experience of dealing with commercial catering equipment sales will prove an asset for Euro Catering Parts as it bids to build on its position in the market.

“I’ve joined to help steadily grow the company and expand our supplier base by having all manufacturers on board,” he explained.

Hughes, meanwhile, has been managing director of Euro Catering for the past two years, joining the company from First Choice Catering Spares, where he spent five years. Prior to that he worked for Mecserflex and Wolsley.

Hughes said: “It was important for Euro Catering Parts to have a new key member who not only understands the industry and the supplier base, but also understands how a successful business operates and handles day-to-day operations.”

Oldham-based Euro Catering Parts recently announced that it had become a spare parts distributor for Classeq and Winterhalter, as well as a spare parts agent for Dawson.
