Food prep is monkey business for Electrolux

Electrolux Professional supplies equipment into all manner of conventional food and dining establishments, but now one of its food prep appliances is benefitting customers of a very different nature.

That’s because the manufacturer has just sold one of its TR260 universal vegetable cutters to Belfast Zoo via local distributor DMC Catering Equipment.

The zoo will use the appliance to slice fruit and vegetables for more than 1,000 animals that it looks after. Its previous machine was eroded by the acid from the fruit but it hopes the stainless steel construction of the Electrolux design will prevent that from happening in future.

Dawn McClean, director of DMC Catering Equipment, said the cutter would provide “reliability and durability” as it can normally prepare food for up to 600 people.

The TR260 includes a vegetable prep attachment especially designed for quality, continuous slicing, dicing, shredding, grating and julienne with 33 different processing plates.

Claire Morton, category product manager at Electrolux Professional, added: “Much like any busy kitchen or food production factory, it was essential for the zoo to find a processor that could consistently slice products without impacting on labour time.”
