A new energy monitoring service that allows chefs and managers to benchmark energy and water usage has been launched in the UK.
FM 4 Kitchens — a division of kitchen maintenance firm Serviceline — is a software package that identifies energy and water consumption by the kitchen and provides comprehensive reports online.
The company claims that for it will solve a knowledge vacuum for many caterers, as it marks the first time that such information is available because most commercial kitchens are not separately monitored and therefore cannot be accurately measured.
The service will potentially save operators money by measuring the electric, gas and water consumption in the kitchen, identifying peaks and troughs in demand and examining how staff interact with the utilities.
Analysis software generates regular reports highlighting areas for improvement and provides data for ongoing comparison.
