Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) is set to splash the cash on new kitchen equipment as part of a mini expansion drive that will see it add five restaurants in the next four months.
The openings will take the company past the 50-store mark for the few time. New restaurants will open in Bath, Birmingham, Brent Cross, Gateshead and Islington.
GBK is also engaged in an ongoing refurbishment programme, which involves introducing open kitchens and artisan fittings.
GBK’s CEO, Alasdair Murdoch, said competition the burger category had increased significantly since it started out 11 years ago.
“We want to provide a great experience for our customers, and the look and feel of our restaurants are a key aspect of that,” he said.
