The latest catering equipment technology will be demonstrated at The Foodservice Show and The Professional Kitchen Show.

The first edition of The Professional Kitchen Show is kicking off today at the Birmingham NEC.

This and the co-located Foodservice Show comprise the HRC (Hotel, Restaurant and Catering) show, the new overarching brand name for what used to be the Great Hospitality Show, and the Hotelympia event in London.

In hall 9, the action begins both today and tomorrow from 10am, with the event closing at 5pm each afternoon.

Around 8,000 senior industry buyers are expected to attend, with the HRC 200 buyers club guaranteeing 200 of these committed to a minimum of eight prearranged, face-to-face 30-minute meetings with suppliers. Distributors who have signed up for this include ABDA, Shine, Sprint Group and Vision.

Another new draw is the Kitchenology zone, a walk-through display which showcases over 15 leading technologies curated by CESA.

Visitors can interact with the future-facing equipment and glean intel on the developments disrupting traditional catering, and get up close to live feeds showing data from active smart machines.

Attendees can also learn from a dedicated seminar program from the UK’s foremost specialists on the subject of smart kitchens across the event’s 2 days.

Subjects under discussion include: the kitchen of the future, designing a successful commercial kitchen, and energy and joined up thinking.
