47 delegates are attending the CFSP seminar at First Choice headquarters.

The First Choice Group is currently playing host to the latest Certified Foodservice Professional (CFSP) Seminar at its Cannock offices for a second consecutive year.

The 2-day seminar and training course, which is overseen by CESA and CEDA, began yesterday and welcomed almost 50 industry representatives including manufacturers, dealers and associated foodservice professionals.

Attendees gathered in the spares specialist’s Combico training facility, where they were educated by foodservice expert Doug Fryett on industry-specific knowledge and how to become more effective in their role.

Combico is the dedicated training division of First Choice and is committed to providing education in commercial equipment and gas and electrical competence in order to help engineers to secure a first time fix.

Combico technical training manager, Martin Dagnall, commented: “We’re delighted to host the CFSP seminar and assessment day at the First Choice Combico training facility for a second year running.

“Our location and facilities make the course accessible to businesses and professionals who are based across the UK and we welcome both CESA and CEDA to our offices for events all year round.”

Hosted across 2 days, the seminar ran yesterday from 8.30 until 6pm, while today sees a 3-hour examination taking place, comprising multiple choice, true or false and fill-in the blank questions based on the Introduction to Foodservice study guide.

Jocelyn Carr, events and membership manager at CESA, said: “Our June CFSP seminar and exam, with 47 delegates, has the largest number of attendants since the programme began in the UK in 2009.

“As a CESA member, First Choice Group was our first choice in the Birmingham area to host our event. The facilities at First Choice are modern and state-of the-art, and perfectly situated in the country for ease of access for our CFSP delegates.”

She continued: “CESA strives to find venues that will provide warm hospitality for our CFSP delegates and First Choice Group has exceeded our expectations. A big thank you to the whole First Choice team for its detailed care for our group.”

Combico’s Dagnall added: “We’re more than happy to support the requirements for the CFSP Accreditation for professionals in the industry, as we see this as an opportunity for huge professional development for those in the foodservice and catering industry.

“As the UK’s leading supplier of CEM catering spare parts, First Choice is fully supportive of our industry and its development, so it’s vital that we do everything we can to support the cause.”
