First Choice adds firepower to training arm

First Choice Catering Spares has moved to build on its acquisition of Combico by appointing an experienced technical training manager.

Martin Dagnall, a Rational expert who managed his own company called Rational Technical Services Ireland, recently joined up with the Cannock-based outfit to take on the new role.

He will work with Combico’s former owner Steve Weston to develop Combico as First Choice’s dedicated training division. With their combined expertise, the company feels that it will be a benefit for any engineers undertaking training with it.

First Choice director, John Whitehouse, stated: “I am extremely happy to welcome Martin to the team, and we’re very excited to now be able to maximise Martin’s experience in regards to offering more engineer training for Rational and other brands, and for Martin to take charge of the Combico training as First Choice continues to expand.”

Developing its training division remains a key focus for First Choice this year after it bought Combico in March.

As well as making it the largest supplier of Rational parts in the UK, the deal gave it the rights to begin providing official Rational technical training courses.

With the company’s refrigeration arm also gaining strength, First Choice’s aspiration is to be able to offer the full package when it comes to spare parts and engineer support.

Last month the company expanded into the food waste market after striking an agreement with US-based EnviroPure Systems to bring the EPW decomposition system to the UK market.
