Scottish distributor Lovat’s Group has revealed big plans for the future now that it is under new ownership.

Entrepreneurial couple Mike and Pam Floyd took over the Kirkcaldy-based business in July 2021, acquiring the Group from Lovat Turnbull who established the family firm back in 1989. Turnbull is still working as a consultant in the business as part of the transition.

Lovat’s Group specialises in catering engineering and refrigeration services for clients including Fife Council, West Lothian Council and University of St Andrews. The multi-million-pound business employs over 35 staff and has already been actively recruiting to support its expansion plans.

MD Mike Floyd is well-known in the facilities management industry, having previously been with Atalian Servest and Arthur McKay, before taking over Lovat’s with his wife Pam, who has background in HR and project management.

The couple are focused on retaining the business’ reputational excellence, while extending its reach into full facilities management services, with a particular eye on the net zero agenda.

Mike said: “The hospitality and catering sectors have been hard hit by the pandemic, but many have used the opportunity to re-think their business models and re-shape their operations. I believe agility and sustainability are more important than ever before and, by embracing innovation, the sector has the potential to not just survive, but thrive.

“I think we’re really beginning to see the value in local communities and the circular economy. When we start with what’s on our own doorstep, it develops strong foundations and a real sense of collective responsibility. Especially in terms of things like supply chains, net zero targets and changing customer expectations – we all need to evolve.”

He believes: “Lovat’s has an exceptionally strong core business and we’ve been working closely with clients to respond to the challenges they’re facing. We’re also looking to the future and extending our services into full facilities management, taking a holistic approach which will bring clients increased simplicity, flexibility, and value.

“My goal is to build on Lovat’s recognised expertise to become the leading FM name in Scotland – while staying true to our roots of personal service, continual innovation and a strong sense of social responsibility.”
