Fife dealer completes first year in business

A Fife catering equipment dealer is looking to double its business in 2012, just a year after it was set up with support from a local small business start-up scheme.

JP Direct Ltd wants to double its turnover to £500,000, launch a new website and expand its product catalogue following a successful first year in operation.

The company, which supplies commercial kitchen equipment and disposables to the hospitality and restaurant sectors, was formed by John Duncan and Peter Nelson.

Duncan said that participating in the Gateway Fife ‘Be Your Own Boss’ programme had helped make it easier for the business to get off the ground.

“We already had a business plan and considerable experience in the trade so it was a surprise to discover that they could still help us with advice, grant funding towards equipment plus help negotiate a great deal on office costs,” Duncan told Fife Today.

Duncan added that participating in the scheme allowed JP Direct to begin business with lower costs.
