Richard Alger, MD of refrigeration component supplier Fermod, has sadly passed away after 2 years of poor health.
He had worked for Fermod for the last 47 years during a long and distinguished career which began at his family business.
Richard was married to Susie Alger and they have two sons, grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He started his working life within Wales-based Alger’s Refrigeration, which was one of the first Frigidaire agents within the UK, before moving to Frigidaire itself (now an Electrolux subsidiary), based at its head offices in Edgware, London.
Richard then worked for refrigeration and air conditioning wholesaler HRP Sales as sales manager, getting promoted all the way up to the MD role. Switching to Fermod in 1973, he was also a director of Harp Refrigerants.
Fermod Regional sales manager Marcus Stephens posted on LinkedIn: “Richard worked hard within the industry and was a past president of the British Refrigeration Association and past chairman of the Refrigeration Industry Board. He also worked on the Environmental and Energy Committee.
“He was a real gentleman who was well known and liked within our industry. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues.”
Richard was a very keen golfer attending many of the industry’s golfing events. He also enjoyed his holidays, parties and a good bottle of red wine.
