Joanna Robinson, the MD of catering equipment fabricator Mansfield Pollard has won the ‘Woman of the Year’, Medium Sized Business category, at this year’s Barclays Yorkshire Women in Business Awards.
The honour recognises good leadership, with top business leaders from manufacturing and service industries in the running.
The judges were impressed with Robinson’s rapid career progression from financial controller to MD and her vision for the development of the business including restructuring the senior management team.
Robinson also won Corporate Leader of the Year at the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards in November.
She became MD in early 2013 and establishes a clear direction for the development of the business promoting a culture based on customer focus, quality, integrity, innovation and fun.
The company now employs 150 staff, sales were up over 30% in its last fiscal year alone and major business wins have seen its products providing air management solutions in locations as diverse as Azerbaijan, Dubai and all over the UK.
Robinson said: “To win this award was a wonderful surprise, and an honour. Mansfield Pollard is built on a culture of collaboration and I see this award as recognition of the efforts of the whole team rather than just myself."
Debbie Mullen, Barclays corporate head of Yorkshire said: “Women from all sectors across Yorkshire are securing key roles in larger companies and we wanted to recognise exceptional achievements for the contribution they are making. The applications were all exceptionally good and the judges had a tough job drawing up the short list and selecting the finalists.”
