Brian Lloyd, the former owner and MD of Lloyd Catering Equipment, has sadly passed away. He died in his sleep with his son and daughter at his side on 10 October.
Brian started with Lloyd Catering Equipment in 1958, 2 years after the company was formed by his father Eric in 1956.
He eventually took over control of the business in 1973 and with never-ending enthusiasm proceeded over the next 40 years to take the company repeatedly from one level to the next.
Simon Lloyd, Brian’s son and current MD of the Rotherham-based distributor, paid tribute to his father: “He simply loved the industry and the company he helped create. During his 50+ years with the business he seldom took holidays or worked less than 6 days a week. He earned tremendous respect from those with whom he came in to contact with as a result of his uncompromising integrity and knowledge. He pushed the company to new heights during his time at the helm.
“Whilst an unassuming person he built up an incredible reputation and was known and highly respected by most within the industry.”
Apart from his family and the company, Brian’s other passion was classic cars. He owned and restored many over the years and his knowledge on the subject was incredible.
Simon added: “He inspired and taught me a great deal and I will miss him tremendously. My sister and I have been really touched and comforted by the kind messages we have received from many that knew him.”
