Ex-Blue Seal chief settles into Ambach post

Former Blue Seal boss Martin Allen has returned to the Ali Group to take the hotseat at Ambach.

With Wayne Bennett recently taking up a new post at rival MKN, the heavy duty cooking range manufacturer has been scouring the market for the right replacement to take the business forward.

John Braithwaite, Ali Group’s director of business and brand development, said the organisation had spent two months searching for the most suitable candidate and revealed that Allens’ 30 years in the catering equipment supplies market swung the decision.

“Ambach has experienced a number of changes to its personnel and operations in recent times and Ali Group felt that we needed an experienced individual who would be committed to the long term and that could manage the brand across all market sectors. We believe we’ve got the right man.”

Allen spent 28 years at Ambach, including 11 as general manager before he left the company in March 2011. For the past year he has headed up planetary mixer specialist Chefquip UK.

Braithwaite said Ambach been chosen for “numerous” high profile consultant-led projects over the years and one of Allen’s key tasks would be to develop this business further.

Ambach is currently plotting the launch of its heavy duty CHEF850 range, which it claims will provide a modular offering to complement its bespoke ranges, and Allen will have the job of rolling that into the market through the dealer channel.

“I am delighted to be back with the Ali Group and to have been given the job to build the Ambach brand business with UK dealers,” he stated. “With so many years experience with Blue Seal and working in this market sector for most of this time, it’s very much my home.”
