A mobile ordering and payment service for restaurants was this afternoon named the Hospitality Show’s ‘star product’, edging a number of catering equipment brands to the prize.
Special mentions were given to Gram’s SuperiorPlus 72 refrigeration cabinet and the Venta modular buffet system supplied in the UK by Signature FSE.
But it was Orderella’s mobile payment service which most impressed the judges.
Its app turns a smartphone into a mobile waiter, providing the consumer with real-time feedback about the status of an order.
Hospitality operators can then manage incoming orders on a cloud-based solution, eliminating the need for card or cash payments and allowing them to focus on delivering great customer service.
Toby Wand, managing director of show organiser Fresh Montgomery, said: “Congratulations to Orderella on delivering such a stunning innovation — one that, according to judges, will set the agenda for the next decade, and well done to our deserved final 10 — I know the judges had quite a task in separating them, such was the high standard on show.”
As well as Gram and Venta, other catering equipment brands in the final 10 included Walsh Direct, for the Krebs chocolate spray gun, and Jestic, for the Zumex Soul juicer.
