London supplier Pizza Equipment Ltd has expanded its premises to create a specialist showroom that it hopes will attract customers from far and wide.
The Harrow-based company has operated a small shop containing utensils and small appliances for the last 12 years, but the extension will mean that heavy machinery which was previously stored in its warehouse can now be put on display.
The expansion has been made possible after the owners of Pizza Equipment Ltd purchased a neighbouring shop for £320,000 and knocked through the downstairs wall to create a larger showroom. The investment also gives it additional parking space directly outside the premises.
Sales director, Timea Esser, told Catering Insight that being able to give the products extra prominence will hopefully lead to a spike in trade and strengthen the image of the company.
She said the biggest cost of the project had come from securing the adjacent property. “The main investment has really been the purchase of the new property and the adaption of it to create the showroom,” she said. “The equipment has not been a problem, as that was always there stacked up in the warehouse.”
Pizza Equipment Ltd was founded in 1990 and also owns the trading name Andrew’s Catering Equipment, a separate brand that it set up to manage all commercial catering equipment rather than just pizza-related kit.
However, the emphasis today still remains firmly on pizza equipment, explains Esser. “We pride ourselves to be one of the UK’s most prominent specialised traders in this area,” she said. “We distribute Italian pizza ovens by Moretti — this brand is well known for its high quality all over Europe. We distribute the Lincoln Impinger conveyor ovens, which are the most reliable of their kind on the market.”
The showroom will feature conveyor and deck pizza ovens, dough mixers and planetary mixers, dough handling equipment, meat mincers and slicers. It will also contain products from Vesture, a brand that Pizza Equipment Ltd is the sole distributor for in the UK.
Esser added that the expansion had created an opportunity for it to employ a showroom sales assistant, which the company is now recruiting for.
