A handful of catering equipment suppliers are in the running for a product innovation award that will be judged at next week’s lunch! show in London.
The Innovation Challenge Awards – which cover food, drink, packaging, equipment and technology – will for the first time see buyers vote on which companies they want to see on the final shortlist.
Several catering equipment suppliers have been confirmed as entrants to date, including Alan Nuttall, Loxfield Distribution, Coffeebrewer Nordic and Dawson Foodservice Equipment.
Alan Nuttall’s product is the Nuttall Flexeserve Zone, which allows flexible hot merchandising using different temperature regimes across four zones, while Loxfield Distribution is hoping to win admirers with its Staybowlizer kitchen utensil invention.
It can hold large and small bowls in place while whisking, mixing and beating ingredients, giving users a free hand to add further ingredients at specific times. It can also be used as a bain-marie on a saucepan and a trivet.
Coffeebrewer Nordic’s product that has been entered into the competition is best described as a single-brew French press, while Dawson is looking to impress with its new Lainox Compact Green combination oven range.
Voting will commence when the show opens on 26 September. The 15 products to secure the most votes before 4pm that day will then be invited to ‘pitch’ their new innovations live to a panel of industry judges at noon on Friday 27 September, with the results to be announced just a few hours later at 2pm.
