Electrolux Professional has been unveiled as the headline kitchen sponsor for Northcote’s annual festival of gastronomy, Obsession 18.
While it is Electrolux’s third consecutive year sponsoring Obsession, it is the first time the manufacturer has sponsored the kitchen.
The kitchen, which was designed in partnership with chef patron Northcote Group owner and chef, Nigel Haworth, and executive head chef, Lisa Goodwin-Allen, includes two tilting ProThermetic braising pans, used to boil, braise, griddle, steam or pressure cook and an air-o-steam Touchline combi oven with an accompanying blast chiller.
Obsession will welcome 21 leading chefs, with 14 Michelin stars, from the UK and further afield, including chefs from India, Russia, Japan and Mexico, to cook Obsession menus using Electrolux’s range of commercial kitchen equipment on display in the Northcote kitchen.
Haworth commented: “I chose Electrolux equipment because, five years ago when I built the new kitchen at Northcote, for me it was the best equipment for what our requirements were. I needed, from a plancha point of view, to be able to cook direct and indirect, and that for me is quite unique to the Electrolux plancha. Then I wanted induction, and they had a very good range of induction, so really all-round it worked for me.”
Darren Lockley, head of region at Electrolux Professional, added: “Obsession is known as one of the stand-out events in the fine dining calendar. We’re exceptionally proud to be involved for a third successive year, and when we found out there was an opening to sponsor the kitchen, we knew it would be a natural fit.”
The event, which will mark Obsession’s 18th year, will see a cross-section of elite chefs from around the world descend on the Lancashire hotel and restaurant in January and February next year.
