Electrolux Professional is closing its Food Service headquarters in Birmingham and shifting the operation to Luton instead.
The move south will bring together the manufacturer’s Food Service, Laundry and Major Appliances divisions.
Electrolux’s catering equipment arm will form part of what the company calls its ‘Excellence Centre development’, which is taking shape on the existing Electrolux site at Oakley Road in Luton.
It will include product showrooms, meeting facilities and technical training areas, together with business support functions.
Doug Walker, head of region for the UK & Ireland, said: “This relocation of the Food Service headquarters will enable us to bring the Electrolux Professional business closer together, with the aim to improve the customer experience for our valued partners across a variety of sectors.”
Electrolux hasn’t yet specified exactly when the move will take place, but it has confirmed that it will bring the two main divisions of Electrolux Professional under the same roof for the first time.
Walker said the company expects it to result in more streamlined operations and with a target to improve service, particularly for customers which span different divisions.
“For the first time we will be able to offer a product showroom, showcasing the very latest innovations in professional cooking and laundry solutions, together with more comprehensive training support on site,” he added.
“The Excellence Centre is being modelled on the hugely successful Electrolux Innovation Centre in Italy and I am confident that it will be a fantastic new facility for employees and customers alike.”
