Electrolux chief becomes new EFCEM president

The European Federation of Catering Equipment Manufacturers (EFCEM) has elected Evaldo Porro as its new president for the next two years.

Porro is head of customer care at Electrolux Professional in Italy and has been serving as vice-president of EFCEM since 2010.

He takes over the hotseat from Torbjorn Peltonen from Swedish catering equipment association BFS.

Porro vision for EFCEM includes developing its profile and activity in Europe in order to influence legislators. He is also keen to work with Members of the European Parliament to facilitate the proposed energy label proposals for refrigeration and cooking equipment as a result of the Eco Design Directive.

Porro’s induction as president took place earlier this week at EFCEM’s General Assembly in Brussels, which was attended by catering equipment representatives from nine member countries, including CESA in the UK and Ireland’s CEA.

The meeting also saw Frank Kienle of the German Association HKI become the treasurer, while CESA presented the annual technical and policy update to the meeting. Standex UK chief, Steve Loughton, also presented a report on EFCEM’s membership activity on behalf of the marketing committee.

EFCEM also confirmed that the 2013 General Assembly will be hosted by CESA in the UK. It is due to take place on June 18-19 next year.
