ECA refrigeration category under review

The Carbon Trust is to lead a review into how refrigerated display cabinets are supported under the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme.

It is embarking on research to assess the need to support display through the programme, which offers tax relief on certain equipment purchases.

Display cases have been included on the ETL for more than a decade, but the Trust wants to explore whether the criteria needs to be amended to make the barriers to entry higher and encourage greater efficiency.

The review also aims to take into account key legislative developments taking place in the wider refrigeration industry, including those relating to Ecodesign, F-gases and environmental labelling.

Manufacturers, distributors, consultants and operators are invited to submit their views to the Carbon Trust here.
