Ovens from Middleby Marshall and XLT will be put to the test even more firmly than usual by employees of Domino’s Pizza after the fast food chain launched its annual competition to find the world’s fastest pizza maker.
Store managers and staff from Domino’s Pizza stores across the UK and Ireland will battle for a slice of success in a series of regional heats that began this week.
Domino’s produces its pizzas using equipment supplied by manufacturers Middleby Marshall and XLT, and competitors will need to get the kit working to its max as they attempt to make three large pizzas from scratch in the fastest time possible.
Staff have spent months practicing their dough stretching, saucing and topping techniques to impress judges, who will rate them on the speed, accuracy and quality of the pizza they produce.
The fastest pizza maker in each heat will progress to the national final at Domino’s training centre in Milton Keynes on February 29th, with the overall winner being flown to Las Vegas to compete in the World finals in May.
Judge, Simon Hudson said: “Every year we see so many great pizza makers coming through. It gets very competitive, with each participant determined to take the title.”
Domino’s Pizza UK & IRL plc holds the exclusive master franchise to own, operate and franchise Domino’s Pizza stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. It currently oversees 720 in the region.
