DM Catering Equipment has completed the design and installation of Amantia, a new Spanish restaurant in Birmingham.
The Midlands-based distributor met the challenge of having to outfit a basement kitchen with limited space for extraction and air supply ducting, starting the project last December ahead of the venue’s opening in March.
As there were stringent local council demands for noise and odour reduction, DM had to extract 1metre above the eaves which necessitated a 29metre riser and associated scaffolding, using high access equipment, to allow the work to be completed.
“We had to route all of the extraction and air input pipework into what was a very restricted area,” explained the distributor’s owner and director, Darren Meddings. “But we overcame this challenge with our in depth knowledge and experience, working closely with the client’s builders with regards to structural layout of surrounding walls and other service requirements. This was also the case in ensuring we met with council requirements with regards to noise and odour pollution control.”
DM manufactured and fitted bespoke stainless steel fabrications in the kitchen and sourced equipment from major brands including Blue Seal, Lincat, Dawson (Lainox and Comenda), Parry, Rollergrill, Mechline and Fracino. “Brands were chosen based on the criteria of both the client’s budget and the equipments durability and fit for purpose. Having worked with a large number of the leading names in the industry we are in a good position to be able to advise on this,” said Meddings.
The distributor also offered a full service including front of house supplies such as crockery, cutlery, glassware, barware and cookware. “All aspects were delivered to time and to the customer’s satisfaction. The result is a tasteful, contemporary and modern Spanish restaurant experience in the heart of bustling Birmingham,” Meddings reported.
