Chesterfield distributor Catering Projects has set up a new division called Horti Catering Equipment, specialising exclusively in restaurants for garden centres.
The operation was established earlier this year and aims to build on its progress in the sector following a successful showing at the Glee show for garden centre retailers in Birmingham last autumn.
The unit is being led by Amanda McGreavy, who joined the business last year. She has a wealth of knowledge in kitchen design and planning, and has focused on garden centre catering for the last five years.
Group managing director, Andrew Fulham, told trade title Horticulture Week that it made sense to form a separate unit within the business to meet the needs of garden centres. “We recognised the continued growth in the garden centre sector and wanted to expand our business,” he said.
Fulham added that McGreavy’s vast wealth of knowledge in both catering equipment and the independent garden centre sector made her the obvious candidate to run Horti Catering.
“This expertise, coupled with Catering Projects’ high street brands, has taken Horti Catering Equipment to a new and exciting level within this sector,” he said.
Catering Projects has now delivered a number of garden centre kitchen projects. The magazine reported that one of the most recent refurbishments took place at Fakenham Garden Centre, which spent £100,000 improving its food service facilities.
Catering Projects was founded in 2005 to design, supply and install high quality commercial kitchens and bars. It has carried out work for brands such as ASK Restaurants, Yo! Sushi and Nandos.
