Distributor geared up for VW project

C&C Catering Equipment has recently completed a project at VW Finance, based in Milton Keynes.

The organisation required staff dining facilities for its 700 employees based at the headquarters, which is responsible for co-ordinating the worldwide financial services of the Volkswagen Group.

The dealer was approached by main contractor Paragon to carry out the project, which it did alongside Jason Farrer at Tricon Foodservice Consultants.

The scheme required C&C to provide a kitchen pantry, servery counter, self-serve counter, dry store and COSHH store. Additionally, the project was made particularly unique with a coffee machine and condiment station installed inside a vintage VW Beetle.

Equipment used to create the staff dining facility included Counterline counters, Essex fabrications, Meiko dishwashers, Gram fridges, EAIS racking, and United Coffee machines.

As an unusual and distinctive part of the project, the install of the coffee machine and condiment station inside the VW Beetle required precision, with all elements having to be measured and fit to the millimetre. In addition to usage, future service and maintenance also had to be considered, all whilst ensuring the outer shell of the car remained original and intact.

Project manager Matt Summers commented: “It was a great and unusual project to work on with the inclusion of the Beetle. We decided to use the front seats as our service hatch, which created a great finish. It has been a fantastic project to work on, and we’re really proud with the high standard of the end result.”
